I've always generally slept on my left side because I have gastric issues (IBS, reflux) and once I developed gall stones it was even more helpful.
It can help by making it easier for your lymph nodes and your stomach to drain, as well as make it easier for your heart to circulate blood away.

My specialist and ob told me to lay on my left side when I do kick counts. They said there's better circulation for the baby on that side (left).
