Tips for first time home-buyers?

My fiance and I are buying his grandmothers home in December. We have a decent down payment and we make plenty to pay all the bills and live comfortably, while still putting money away for a rainy day.
Outside of that, do you have any advice or stories about buying a home?

Make sure you know about the taxes. My parents were able to afford the down payment bills and such. But the taxes were a different story; actually, they were higher than the real estate agent said.

Just make sure you get a really thorough inspection!!!! You want to make sure you know what you're walking into incase it needs some repairs. Minor issues now could chase bigger issues later :)

I just moved to California and I still don't have a house 😂 my tip is to find a house with everything you like. Take your time looking because you may be there for a long time. Pick a place you see yourself living in long term
