How to tell if baby has acid reflux ?

He's 4 weeks old and spits up alot, he seems to be in pain or discomfort right before spitting up, and it even wakes him from his sleep.

Both of my girls have had reflux. Signs are pulling legs to torso, arching back during feeding, crying all throughout the day (not just in the evening like colic does), gurgling, visible choking, fighting during a feeding, spitting up, excess gas production. For my girls, the Drs recommended adding rice cereal to formula or breast milk, use dr brown bottles, feed with baby facing you propped on an incline like on your crossed leg, shake bottles and let them sit for a few min to let the bubbles out or stir, sit in a swing or bouncer 30 min after feeding no bouncing or jostling, and medication. It's a process, but it helps a lot. My girls would visibly choke or vomit an entire bottle at once because of the reflux. Also keep baby inclined at all times including sleep except for tummy time. Just make sure tummy time happens smack dab in the middle offeedings usually an hour after feeding

My daughter had terrible acid reflex!! She would always stay on my breast and eat non-stop to stop the pain. When she would stop eating she would scream while arching her back. Throwing up was hard on her and it seem like after every meal. I took my daughter to the doctor and they gave her meds and recommended inclining her bed. She finally out grew her acid reflux at 15 months old. I would take him to the doctor just to be on the safe side. Hope your baby feels better!
