Second appointment - with no ultrasound?

Question

I'm just getting my blood drawn. My dr said I'm not getting an ultrasound though. I'll be 10 weeks along. Since I'm not getting an ultrasound, do they do anything to see if the baby is... still there?? Do they use a doppler to at least listen to the heartbeat? I hope they don't just assume the baby is still alive and healthy, you know? I need confirmation!

UPDATE: I had my appointment. The nurse did my vital signs then listened to the baby's heartbeat with a doppler. YAY! It was amazing to hear the heartbeat so fast! It was 169bpm. I can't believe that just 4 weeks ago, it was 117bpm. How reassuring. 😊😄

Tell them you're feeling anxiety n need to see or hear baby and struggling to come to terms your pregnant sure they'll do something then. if not move doctors as they should to help ur stress levels x

I got an ultrasound at 5 and 6 weeks and since "they saw the heartbeat and everything looked OK" then I don't get another ultrasound till 20 weeks. But they did schedule me to come in this week (at 12w) to hear the heartbeat on a doppler.
Sure glad they're giving me something! 😒

I have to wait until 10-12wks so I don't get discouraged or upset if a heartbeat can't be seen or heard.

My First appt i was 8w2d and I was hoping for a sono too after all I had just had a D&C with him in Jan and here we were in April I was soooo upset that he wouldn't do a sono just checked my cervix and tooo blood. I cried when we walked out I wanted reassurance this time after what I had been through. So I scheduled one on my own. Went the next day got my sono heard the heart beat and now I see him next week for a sono/ blood follow up.

Like others have said just ask, even if they're trying to get you out as fast as possible, say something as soon as you have a chance to get a word in. You'll be glad and they probably don't even think about offering info like that if it's routine for the office. You deserve to feel comfortable with everything.

Mine only does an ultrasound at the first appointment to confirm and date and then at 20 weeks for an anatomy scan and to see the gender. The other times I think they use a doppler for the heart rate. One time, they couldn't find the heart beat and let me wait for the ultrasound room to find it on there. I love my ob/gyn!

I went in at 8 weeks and it was just paperwork and bloodwork. The nurse didn't ask how I was feeling, if I had any issues, questions or problems, so I spoke up about it. (This is my first pregnancy, hello, I have no idea what I'm doing here!!) She was like, "Well this is all we do this appointment."

So I told her I was concerned about some spotting and and low HCG levels a few weeks prior. So she talked to the dr. and he scheduled an ultrasound.

All was well, but I was glad I spoke up for myself. I felt like all she wanted to do was get me out of there so she could go and heat up her lean cuisine. 😡

You see if there are places that will do a ultrasound. I went to a place today and it only costed $50. My doctor wont do an ultrasound til im 5 months

I'm at 16 weeks every appointment for me they have used a hand held sono and Doppler. Depending on what the appointment was on the ones I get actual ultrasound pictures they don't Doppler but the ones I don't they make sure everything is okay. It depends on your ob honestly
