35 eggs retrieved! Normal within hours
Ok ladies, I wanted to make this post because prior to my egg retrevial, I read about quite a bit of you ladies feeling terrible after your retrevial.
I had 35 eggs retrieved about 5 hours ago, and I am up and running with very mild pain if any. There has been some misunderstanding why some women have so much pain post retrevial and I think I may be able to provide some insight.
From my understanding, it is caused by the hcg shot, which I was not required to take. Here is the actual explanation I got from my doctor.
"Since you have so many growing follicles and your ovaries are enlarged, I am only going to have you take the Lupron medicine which should get you to surge (mature the follicles and eggs) and allows you to recover quickly after egg retrieval. We often give some novarel (hcg) but that stays in your system much longer and could make you bloated and uncomfortable after egg retrieval. I think you will do well with Lupron and hopefully have good quality eggs and embryos to work with. "
