Do you think minimum wage should be increased? Why or why not?

Federal minimum wage in the U.S. is $7.25. (Some states are higher/lower than this)
Should this be increased?
Should your state's minimum wage increase?
What are your opinions?

We live in a free market. I believe that minimum wage should be set by the populace based on supply and demand, not by the government.

I for one won't accept anything below a certain amount and it's a whole lot more than minimum wage.  Why? Because I value my skills more than that, and I find employers who do the same. If anyone on the street could do my job with a half days training, I wouldn't be very valuable, and thus wouldn't be paid accordingly.

It seems callous, but instead of insisting corporations pay uneducated/unskilled workers more, I think we as a country should be focusing on making higher education more accessible so those who want to earn more have an easier time learning valuable skills to demand a higher wage. Not over valuing menial labor.

And for those who don't like the conditions they work in now, that's what unions are for! I've worked with both Union and non-union companies and I can tell you first hand, unions work. Sure, no corporation wants them, and some like Walmart work hard to prevent them, but it wasn't that long ago that unions didn't exist at all. Instead of people demanding the government change things, they should stand up and make the changes themselves.

I really think if you think your skills/time is worth more than minimum wage that you should prove it by trying to improve yourself and making better life decisions!
I make more than min wage and honestly think I am worth more but i really love my job and the position that I'm in is really about on par with the pay. If I wanted more money I would seek a better job. I'm more than qualified.
