When to get the mom cut? Help!

Dr
So I'm seriously considering chopping my very long hair. My ends arnt healthy and I'm about to have a newborn and I won't be able to maintain it as well as I need to, nor do I like have it constantly in a pony tail and that's what will have to happen for awhile if I keep it long. anyways, that being said I'm wondering when I should do it if I decide to do it. On one hand it's going to be a big difference. And bittersweet. I could chop it after my lil guy gets here and have it be like a mommy make over. But I'm afraid I will be in a fragile emotional state and what if I hate it? Buuuut, my daughter needs her first hair cut really badly and I'm not sure her hair can wait another four to six weeks and she needs to watch mommy get her hair cut before she will allow a stranger to touch hers. She's super shy and hates her hair being messed with. BUT, I've gained a little weight in my face and don't look 100% me right now, I'd really like to lose that before I alter my appearance so that I don't blame the cut. I just don't know what to do.
To clear up any confusion.
Cut now pros: short hair done in a good mental state. Daughter gets her hair cut as needed. No annoying hair mess, looks cute right away.
Cons: don't know if I'm ready yet. The slight facial Weight gain might mess with my perception. No feel good mommy make over later. But I might not feel good about in in which case that brings us back fear of weakened frame of mind.
