My family is extremely homophobic and transphobic. Everytime my mom and brothers see anyone from the LGBT community they get completely disgusted, make fun of them, and just stare. My mom always say it's the parents' fault because they could have stopped their child from doing this "disgusting nonsense". My mom and brothers even say if there's ever a openly transgender person at their school, that they want to get withdrawn from school. They also say that LGBT people need to get beat up and stop. My mom says if any of her children are LGBT then don't ever tell her and the rest of the family. I'm 19, I cannot move out of the house yet(I am finding a job), and I don't have any friends so I can't talk to anyone about this. I think I'm either lesbian or bisexual. I honestly don't know what to do. I don't want my family to hate me or think I'm disgusting. Don't get me wrong, I love them dearly, but I don't like this part of them. I don't want to lose my family. If I do finally figure out my sexuallity, I don't want them to hate me. If I do find someone I love of the same gender, I also don't want to keep it a secret or abandon my family. I'm just so exhausted and hearing that your family would rather you be dead then be anything regarding the LGBT community is depressing. Has anyone gone through something similar? Rant over.
