Any unassisted/free birth mommas here?

Really considering it, looking for insights.

Did you receive prenatal care? Do your own? What did you do?

How did you prepare?

Meee! I did do my initial work up through a midwife, most see it as unnecessary. I am not one of those people. I'm very thankful for medicine and if I was for any reason high risk this free birth would have not been an option. You can get the blood work done yourself by ordering the test to a local blood draw building. I have o- and a son with an unknown blood type, hubby is + so I had concerns (I don't have + antigens so yay!). I also had a date scan and 16 week. Both unnecessary and purely for me.

We are doing it out of necessity  (full time rving for work) and because we believe in birth as normal. My son was midwife assisted and it was OK. They still had many rules they had to follow. I was induced during active labor because of the rules... silly to rush a first birth but they told me I was risking his life😧. I know better now. Anywho self prenatal care is pretty basic. There is a free college module for midwife prenatal skills. I don't have the link but google is handy there. It is an amazing feeling to take charge of your birth, and also I have really just enjoyed it. 21 weeks and no pestering no unnecessary testing and I am just enjoying it and ready to meet him at his own time. I'd check out the free indie birth pod cast. I think indiebirth.com great insight. I don't agree 100% with it but it is a great way to see the wonky practices!

I'm not an unassisted free birth mama, but I am due In July with my first and having a free standing birth center birth with a CPM who isn't under a doctor, trying to get the most unassisted birth out there while still making my pro hospital husband feel comfortable with it haha.
