Can you elect to be induced voluntary at a certain week?

It would be up to your doctor but if it's your first one and no health problems, a lot of the time doctors won't.

Maybe it depends where you are but the only way a doctor would induce here is if it was medically necessary. They also don't induce solely for a large baby either.

Once you hit 39 weeks the doctor will induce if you cry enough about it however I think it's selfish to rush your baby out just because you want a specific date or because you're just tired of being pregnant.

I asked to be induced and they said because you already have had 4 spontaneous labours I would have to have a good reason. So I said baby #4 was born on the front seat of the car after a 20 minute labour start to finish. I only lived a 15 minute drive from the hospital and didn't make it. With #5 I lived a 45 minute drive away and wouldn't make it. That was good enough for them. Also all of my babies have had their cords wrapped around their necks

My mum did. She had a big baby & had part of her cervix removed many years earlier with cancer. She was also due New Year's Day 2000 (my brother) so they let her go early on 23rd December (my grandfather's birthday).

I've never heard of a doctor that will induce because someone requests it. It's their decision and usually based on gestation and if there are any medical issues. Induction comes with a higher risk for c section also.

If there is no medical need unless you are over due its doubtful.

Also induction sucks! I had to be induced to medical need and was painful and ended in emergency c section. If there is no medical need let nature do its thing!

I doubt it, I'm 41 weeks tommorow and they won't induce me until I'm atleast 10 days overdue unless there is medical reason ofcourse

Everyone's Doctor is different. Mine will induce after 39 weeks and it doesn't have to be a medical reason. My dr is inducing me because my history of big babies. Someone on this thread said they might not do that but mine is, so it always depends on your dr.

39 wks in the US is the earliest. Some dr's won't even do it until after your due date
