How does a doctor check for dilation?

I'm a ftm. And not far enough yet for them to check(27weeks) but I see people asking about it and I have no idea how they do it.

Answer

They stick their fingers in your vagina and feel your cervix. The tip of your cervix has a little opening and they feel to see if it's opened or closed and if it's open they'll feel how open it is.    It's a tad uncomfortable but not painful. You feel a lot of pressure while they're checking it, feels like they're trying to put a finger in your cervix. Only takes about 30_45 seconds. Super quick and I would say the thing that makes it the worst is the rubber gloves lol
