Marriage

So my boyfriend asked me if we do get merrier wether or not I would be ok with going to the JP office or did I want a big wedding. We don't have much money between us and I was engaged before and my fiancé had asked me to go to the Jps office with him and I told him I wanted a big wedding but before I could get that he passed away and I feel I would go to the JP office due to the realization that tomorrow anyone could be gone. You never know and if you love the person a big wedding shouldn't matter. I fear a bit that my family will judge but I told him I'm ok with the JPs office and we can have a small gathering of friends and family like a reception. Any thoughts on this?

This is very positive!!! I feel for you as my so passed away...shortly after I met my fiance (we get married in 10 days :)) I believe he sent me my soon to be husband and I'm very thankful! But the point is, yes you should go to the court house because your right anyone could be taken at any time! Here's an idea, go to the jp now and start planning a more formal wedding for when you have the money!

My husband and I got married at courthouse. I don't regret it one bit. A big wedding won't make your marriage any stronger or make it last any longer. I couldn't be happier than I am right now as we approach our 1 yr wedding anniversary. I plan to have a small wedding for our 5 year anniversary.

You could always compromise, have a small backyard wedding or something. You still get that special day but at a cheaper cost and less stress. I've never been one for large over done weddings, I always joke with my SO that we should just elope lol.

We were thinking about going to jp and having a small reception because of money issues but it's something I personally think every woman should experience I had my whole wedding with under 1500 including dress decor cake everything! !! But yea maybe you could have a small gathering and in 5 years maybe have a big wedding /vowel renewal! !!

I think it would be a good idea you'd have plenty of time to save and it would still be a special day!

That's what I was talking to him about with a vowel renewal.

My husband and I got married at the courthouse on valentine's day last year. We made a no special day out of it of course, and it was only him and me. Then in June of that year we had a wedding ceremony to celebrate with our friends and family. To us, it was important to get married in a church to make our commitment before God. Everybody is different!

My hubby and I got married at the courthouse. We needed it done because he was military and deploying and I needed to get on his insurance plus be his power of attorney in case something happened. We plan on having a wedding to renew our vows when we have money to do so. But at the rate things are going that may not happen.
