SMOKING?

As a smoker of 10 cigarettes a day and loved everyone up until i found out i was expecting last Monday just wondering what everyone's position  on smoking is. Iv been going cold turkey since Monday do you think smoking is a Big NO NO or would an odd one be ok??

If you've gone this long without one, keep going! Don't give in. Smoking while pregnant is NOT GOOD. Smoke inhalation of any kind cuts off oxygen to your growing baby, can cause low birthweight, along with many other things. You can do it! If you really need help I'm sure your doctor has some tips for you. Good luck and happy 9 months!

My midwife told me to cut down slowly as if your stressed your baby gets stressed this was a few years ago !!

What I did was split cigarettes with my husband, and then one day he offered me one and I didn't want it anymore. That was almost a year ago. I found out I was pregnant the beginning on last December, completely quit smoking cigarettes by new years.

As soon as I found out I stopped but taking NRT products to ease the cravings for now. Will wean myself off them soon though.  Day 4 without a cigarette!

Just remember, smoking can cause birth defects and other developmental problems even later in life. Baby may appear healthy, but issues can come up during childhood.  Asthma, behavioral, mental etc... You do what you have to do for the health of your baby. That's what being a mother is about. We are mothers when we know we are pregnant. Caring for our baby, and wanting what's BEST for our little miracle, is what it's about. We make sacrifices for them. Hard they may be, we do it out of love ?

I first tried having an odd one here & there for about a week & realised I was still smoking & that was when I decided that I'd ever continue smoking or quit. I chose to quit. It really does come down to will power, I kicked coffee, tea, junkfood & went super healthy & if I had anything to eat or drink that would make me feel like one I'd just have something healthy to eat & the craving would go from high to minimal. It's been 2yrs now & I can not stand the smell of smoke. Can't believe I did that to myself for so long. Just be strong & make smart, healthy choices. It's the best thing you can do for your body, baby & pocket ;)

I smoked with my first, I was a pack and a half a day, when I found out I was pregnant, I weened myself to 3 cigarettes a day. I feel very guilty about it. My daughter came out healthy. It was very hard to kick the habit. This time though, I admit I have sneak a half a cigarette here and there, but that only when I am fighting with my husband and can't stop crying. Other than that, I don't want one. I tried the cold turkey, made it three weeks, and the migraine was terrible.

My god some was born with extreme Asthma and it's the scariest and sadest sons when he has an asthma attack. You can quit if not for you then for your baby I have faith in you and I'm rooting for you! I'm proud of you for doing this it really shows how strong you are

It was hard with my last pregnancy, I admit I smoked while pregnant. I didn't quit. I had 1 a day tho not like a pack. My doctor told me it puts more stress on baby trying to quit. Anyway, My Baby came out perfectly fine, and big lol.
