Can a UTI cause a Miscarriage?

I need to stop reading things on the Internet. I went to the hospital on Thursday due to back pain. I was told I have a UTI. I am 8 weeks and 6 days. I was given the antibiodic Macrobid (which is safe during pregnancy). I just read that UTI's could cause a miscarriage. It sounds plausible but am not sure if it's true. My UTI is being treated. I still feel very much pregnant (spotting only brown, peeing a lot, soreness everywhere, especially in my boobs, and nausea). My next OB appointment is on Tuesday. Does anyone have any additional information on the validity on this?
