Overly sensitive or what?

So i work in a local artist shop i love seeing what some of the more diverse minds bring in. Most of what we get is pottery and paintings and can be fragile. I always make sure to carry 1 or 2 more hardy pieces if we can just to be on the safe side.

Today we had a couple come in with a 2or3yr old and a newborn. I look over to find dad just dazed out playing on his phone and mom on the other side of the store while there son has picked up a pink water pitcher with intricate vine shadowing on it (a $300 piece he had poked at other paintngs which can damage then and we have signs up to please not allow children to handle the art pieces along with you break it youbuy it!). Trying to be kind and not have a piece the artist worked so hard on broken its a heavy piece i came over squatted and said "oh no not the pink one" and made a face. And before i could finish what I'm saying the dad pipes up "why not the pink what are you a bigot because its a GIRL color"............ and before i could think i said "no i think pink is a ugly color its hard to match and painful on the eyes but the green apple is much more easily matched and child friendly not to mention pretty". (There was a more hardy green apple carving on the shelf nearby it). And i do literally loathe pink i always hate how it can clash and be so overly used.

I was TRYING to be kind but next time I'll fucking let there rude actions lead to the more likely ending.
