Why, as women, do we tend to put each other down?

I was having this discussion with one of my friends and we noticed that a lot of times women put each other down rather than lifting each other up, but why? For instance, an old "friend" of mine was constantly trying to throw shade at me and out me down and I find that a lot of women tend to do this. Shouldn't we be supporting uplifting each other?

I think women just result in being caddy when they don't get their way. Why? I don't know it's dumb. I've seen so many comments about girls disproving someone and they reply "well you're fat and ugly" or any other insults. It's disgusting. I agree we should lift each other up we should support one another and not be so petty.

It's kind of how we're raised, or at least how I was when I was younger. I didn't want female friends because they were too "dramatic". And I thought basically any of them that had sex a lot were sluts. I didn't like make up because it seemed "fake" and I didn't want to dress feminine, as that's only done to get the attention of men.

It has taken me years of maturing to realize that no matter what girls do, they will always be told they need to be different or do better. And there is a lot of internal animosity from other girls as if life is a competition.

We're all in this together, and everyone has their own ways of enjoying themselves. There's no reason for us to be at each other's throats for merely existing.
