My molar pregnancy
Hi I would like to share my molar pregnancy experience feb 05/2016 I was diagnosed with a molar pregnancy at 13 weeks and 23 yrs old, I had no inclination that anything was wrong other then knowing my uterus was feeling much larger then it should of been.( I have one son so I knew I shouldn't be measuring at my belly button when I was only 13 weeks) I went in and saw a dr that was on call, my only thoughts were I was having twins or further along then I knew.
This all came crashing down on me very quickly, discovered through an ultrasound I measured at 22 weeks, had a 11cm mass( complete mole) and my hcg was sky rocketing at 700,000!
What really upset me was having a prenatal appointment at 10 weeks and my Dr did not hear a heart beat but assumed everything was fine without investigating, I feel he failed me, and gave me 3 more weeks to bond with my pregnancy that was going no where. (Not my diagnosis Dr, or Obgyn)
The good news was after my D&C which was scheduled the same day as diagnosis ( thank god for Canadian health care) it only took me 11 weeks to get my hcg to 0 and two follow up blood draws and my OB has given us the okay to try for another baby!! ( waiting for ovulation to take place!!!)
This was an extremely difficult process and loss, the weekly blood draws were a constant reminder. I found it hard for people to understand what I was really going through and unlike a natural miscarriage once the body is clear of the fetus your on to your next chapter. This is not the case with a Molar pregnancy it can go weeks, months, years with the potential of cancer.
I didn't know this could even happen, but I feel this tragedy has brought my husband and I closer, we appreciate and will never take our first born for granted. It is a true miracle to grow a human, and have your body do all the right things!
I hope any ladies going through this, see the light at the end of the tunnel ❤️
