I've never heard of anyone having to abort because of an iud. I have the Paraguard. My doctor told me that it's possible to have a safe and healthy pregnancy with the iud in place and close prenatal care. She also said if you get pregnant on it, you can have it removed and continue the pregnancy but there is a risk of miscarriage.
