Staffy/Pitbull and baby?

I have a Staffy Pitbull cross and I'm worried about how he will react to the new baby. He's very loving and friendly but I'm worried he'll get jealous as he's always all over me wanting my attention and can get frustrated when my attention is not on him, how did you go about introducing a needy dog to the new baby or getting them used to not being the center of attention?

We have a pitbull who is EXTREMELY needy, exceptionally strong and super high energy. We have some concerns about him around the baby just because he is such a handful.

So we started early setting boundaries. For example he used to jump right up on the couch with us and sometimes he would hurt us a bit because he is too powerful and doesn't pay attention. We decided that was absolutely unacceptable with a baby around. So, months ago we stopped letting him on the furniture.......Any major changes like that to your dogs life should be made before the baby arrives.

Also, this is recommended by dog trainers,we got a baby doll that cries and started walking all over the house with her so our dog gets "used to" having a "baby" around.

You should also start using any baby lotions, etc that you plan on using so that your dog gets used to the smell.

There really are a lot of things you can do for  your dog to help them transition.

He's super attached to me.  It's unbearable sometimes. And I understand your worry. But Pitt Bulls love babies!

Pit bull. Mix or not. Have the same instincts. They are naturally nanny dogs. Your dog will understand once the baby comes along and end up loving the baby more than he loves you! Lol

So what I did when I brought my daughter home was I had my husband or myself stay outside with our baby in the car seat and we brought our dog out of the house to the front yard and introduced them. I let her smell her and look around and made a big deal about it being her baby sister. Really helped and I haven't had an issue and my dog is half chihuahua half terrier and she is a nipper. I have to be more careful now that my daughter is almost 3.

Your pup will be fine! Google online. There are a number of things you can do to ready him for the baby. You can play crying baby noises well before the baby arrives. I also recommend bringing something with the baby's scent on it home from the hospital before the baby arrives.

I have a Rottie and he is my baby. Part of me thinks he might get jealous with me giving attention to the baby, but, at the same time he won't be used to having me around all day like I will be on my leave.
