Why celebrate Mother's Day ?

With the upcoming holiday someone wrote in to my local radio station who was a father. His question was why should husbands do anything for their wives on Mother's Day ? Everyone who responded sounded like they weren't even mothers, none of them made any good points and it made the jerk who wrote it sound like he was right! What do you guys think should husbands celebrate Mother's Day for their wives? Does your husband do anything special for you on Mother's Day ?

I'm pregnant with my first child and my boyfriend has already been thinking of something to do for Mother's Day for me. I guess I got lucky. In my opinion I think the father should do something or help the child do something until the child is old enough to do something on their own. And same goes for mothers on Father's Day.

I wasn't expecting anything until after I had kids but last year my husband made me these pancakes for breakfast in bed and he tied a Mother's Day card around our puppy's neck. This year I'm pregnant with our first so I'm excited!

I don't know if I'll ever really celebrate it. It's a Hallmark holiday. So is Father's Day. I feel like they're just a reason to get out and feel obligated to waste money on cards that people are just going to read once and throw away. 
I know I have a negative view but it just seems that the older I get, the less I care about these holidays. We go out for dinner on Valentine's Day, but I don't expect candy and flowers and a card anymore because we just don't have the money to waste on things like that.
Maybe once I have kids that are old enough to make me something it will mean more to me?

I have two fur children, I miscarried an angel in October, and I'm currently pregnant with our rainbow. My hubby has always gotten me a card from the dogs (I do the same on Father's Day, it's just something fun & we usually get each other a new dvd or something.) This year my hubby got me a card from the dogs, he got me a card from him, and he got me a "MOM" Pandora charm for my 1st Mother's Day to our Angel Baby in heaven and the little girl I'm growing. It was SO SWEET. I had to work Mother's Day and my sweet mom and grandma delivered flowers to me at work honoring my first Mother's Day. I wasn't expecting anything, but figured I'd get a card. I think it depends on the mom, the significant other, their personalities, and the relationship.

The point of these "hallmark holidays" can be either viewed cynically or not. While it's true, you should celebrate the important people in our lives daily, sometimes we get busy and don't always get to do the fun silly stuff that would seem out of place in day to day life. I personally love those holidays, because life is short. I'll take any excuse I can get to love up on my significant other and tell them how special they are to me. Regardless of whether I do it every other day or not.

Men shouldn't need a day to treat their wives good, and vise versa. I don't need a hallmark day to let the father of my child, and my husband, know I love him and appreciate him. And he does the same for me. I don't see the point in the holiday until my kids can have fun with it making little cards.

I always get ugly flowers that stink. My kids aren't really old enough to do anything for me yet. This year I have been extremely sick and in the hospital multiple times and I had asked my boyfriend  (father of 2/3 of my children) for a necklace that's  $19.99. Nothing too fancy but it's what I want. Well when I finally sent him the link he said it's too late now I'm not getting it. Yeah sorry while I was hooked up to breathing machines, getting Arterial blood drawn and EKG's for days that my first thought wasn't what I wanted for mothers day

I think every mother should be celebrated on Mother's Day! Mother's Day is a great day to celebrate being a mom and all the hard work a mother  has done for her husband and kids. A mother is special in every single way. Nothing like a mother in this world . Besides a dad but all mothers are special :) !!!! 😊😘
