Antibiotic question

So I've had a uti that they think hasn't gone away for almost a month now. I have a history of frequent utis and kidney infection during pregnancy the on call dr I spoke to tonight told me they may want to put me on antibiotics for the whole pregnancy has anyone ever heard of this? It won't harm the baby?
