Anybody else trying to quit smoking before they get pregnant?

So my significant other and I want a baby like right now. Im about 98% sure that I could quit smoking cigaretts if I found out I was pregnant, but id dather stop before I do. So if you have gone through it, please comment and say how you quit and what worked for you. TYIA

I quited cold turkey, but read a lot about difficult social situations that helped. You also want to keep in mind that smoking reduces your fertility and you have a greater chance to miscarry. Also if you smoke during pregnancy, the baby can develop al sorts of (behavioral) problems due to the lack of oxigyn. I think those things would be a great motivator to stop. Good luck, you can do it!! It feels great not to be dependent from those nicotine sticks anymore and you can be proud of yourself that you kicked your addiction. Exercising helps too, because you notice you'll have more air.

I stopped smoking when I got BFP. I know I couldn't stop while TTC (yes I know it's better to) because it's stressful enough TTC without stopping smoking as well which was my stress relief. I was a heavy smoker and have been since I was 12 (22 now) but I have found it really easy to quit this time (failed MANY times in the past). Just do what's best for you. I must admit though normally after sex Id getup and go for a smoke but the month I got pregnant I didn't getup after sex for a smoke and I'm sure that helped staying lied down and not getting up.

Me and my SO are both trying to quit. It's so hard though. I know if I don't turn up pregnant this month, the second I get my period, I'm DONE. We're both fertile and come from fertile families so I really think smoking could be the only thing standing in our way! Good luck to everyone trying to quit, and baby dust to all! If you can't quit for yourself, quit for something greater.

I read the Alan Carr easy way to stop smoking. You just need to be in the right frame of mind and this book helps. Also I read online about smoking and fertility so that helped too
