Cramping while pregnant

Hey ladies, I just discovered I'm 5 weeks pregnant with my first child. I've been experiencing some menstrual like cramps in my lower abdomen. The cramps aren't bad pains, just uncomfortable and no spotting has occurred. I have my first doctors appointment on Monday, however, I'm just curious if this is normal or a bad sign. Since this is my pregnancy, I'm being extremely cautious. Have any of you experienced this? And if so, what is it? And when will it go away? Thank you all!
