Who's having issues with their OBGYN??

Question

Im not liking my ob doctor at all( i guess i got spoiled at all about women in my first pregnancy) but they did everything that they are suppose to do.. Im 34wks 3dys and my doctor havent even measured my belly, havent checkd if im dilated, he only checks the babys heart beat and thats it😳 is anyone having trouble also.. Im getting ultrasounds every monday and starting next week im being checkd 2 times a week.

Why are you getting ultrasounds every monday? It seems like maybe the Dr doesn't feel the need to measure you because you're doing weekly ultrasounds?

You don't want them to check for dilation that early or frequently! It irritates the cervix and can cause tons of issues. Usually they don't start anyways until 38 weeks unless there is an issue. I'm high risk for growth issues and I don't have my fundal height measured every time either. It doesn't measure the baby, it measures the uterus. If you are going to be getting ultrasounds that often then there is no point in measuring fundal height.

I'm 34 weeks and my belly hasn't been measured they told me they wouldn't check to see if I'm dialated until 36 weeks. I have been for an ultrasound every appt and I've had my baby's measurements taken via ultrasound.

Are you high risk? An appointment once every 2 weeks is appropriate for normal pregnancies. I'm getting only my third ultrasound when I hit 35 weeks to see if baby's in position  (one was at 10 and one was at 20 weeks). My bellys been measured three times so far. If you are getting so many ultrasounds there's really no need to measure your belly because they can make all the estimations from those I would think. 80% of all my appointments have been a quick pee in cup, weight, BP, baby's heart rate, and occasionally a fundal height belly measurement but I'm very pleased with the OB group I see.

If your getting an ultrasound everyweek then they check your cervix & baby growth thru your ultrasound. I get weekly ones & thats what my ob said. & By checking your cervix vaginally can cause you to go into labor so it safer to do via ultrasound.

I'm almost 34 weeks and my doctor just informed me that he is closing the practice the end of this month. I have to find a new doctor. Because we live in such a small town there is not an OB/GYN close by. My new doctor is in a completely different town at a different hospital. I loved my OB and especially the midwives he had but I can't help but be a little frustrated that I have to switch this late in the pregnancy!

They usually don't check your cervix until further along. They should be measuring to make sure the baby is a good size tho. Ask him it's his job.

I've been getting measured, and my cervix every appointment . Did you get your blood work done? . I'm sure you can ask for another doctor in that office, look to speak to the director or manager. These weeks are too precious to not have a good relationship with your OB
