What is the right time to start looking for day care?

Hey everyone, I am 18 weeks pregnant and new to the United States. I wanted to know what is the right time to start looking for new born day care ? I am a full time employee and will have to join after 6 weeks post delivery.

The first 2 years is proven to be most important for baby an parent bonding ..I waited until he was 2 to start because he was more verbal to tell me things and     I had the most important moment with him ..

I work in daycare and I would say to start looking yesterday. At my center we have a waiting list that goes out past my expexted return date.

We started looking at 17 weeks and thank goodness we did, we felt a bit pressured to decide quickly because most of the places we looked had only 1 spot available for when we needed it or already had a waiting list!! It's crazy!!! Good luck!!

I'm 15 weeks and I already have a slot reserved at the daycare I'm using. Normally the better ones have a waiting list.

I don't know if it's true everywhere, but here it seems to closer to a city you get, the harder (and more expensive) it is to find. For our first, we chose a daycare by our house, as opposed to work and we live deep in the 'burbs ... There's 3 or 4 daycares in our area, all of which had room when we needed it! We started looking 4-5 months in advance.

That being said, we were looking for preschools this past January and they ALL filled up immediately! Must be lots of SAHM's around here!

We started looking immediately. We have toured and talked with several and are on a waiting list for 3 right now. Only 1 of the 3 could guarantee an opening in January of 2017. I am 18 weeks now. We started looking around 8 weeks. Soo I would say ASAP to start looking to make sure you get the facility you want!

Apparently the right time is befire you conceive. I went at 12 weeks and am on a waiting list. I need it for jan 2016 and they can't guarantee until may. Yes...you read that right.
