To Procreate or Not? My SO wants to have a baby NOW but he isn't working. Should we move forward?

My SO is not working currently and has not worked for anyone in quite a while (self-employed). He wants to have a baby immediately. He is looking but wants to find the correct most desirable job. My hesitation is babies are expensive and I really want him to be able to stand on his own (not depend on parents). I'm really more focused on being stable than having a new little muffin.

Yeah, no. So he just sits on his butt all day looking for the perfect job? It doesn't work that way, he needs to get off his ass and get a job right now , before you guys think about bringing a life into this world. Babies are expensive

It depends on your age too! I would say if you're over 32, go ahead and try to get pregnant soon. If you're younger, wait a little bit until things are more stable! God luck and baby dust

Wait wait wait!! If both of you don't feel like it's the right time then don't do it. Babies are expensive and it's so much easier when you have a stable environment and you don't have to worry about having enough money to cover expenses for yourself and baby. If you don't feel it's the right time,it's probably not.

One of the only worries I have as a new FTM is finances and that's exacerbated massively since the arrival of our son so I would say make sure you are financially secure first. X

You are right wanting to wait. Although it could be a positive thing to have him there for the baby while you go to work, you would save money on daycare. There's nothing wrong with being a stay at home dad. But if that's not how you envision things, then definitely do wait.

Ate you ok funding everything. My SO works for himself and I was pretty clear that this wasn't a one sided financial thing.

Don't do it, but not because of money but because your heart isn't there yet. If it's not what you want right now then definitely don't! It will be your uterus that's contracting at the end of all of it so you better be on board 100% 😁
Yes it's important to be gainfully employed and babies are expensive too!
