Safe sleep and getting baby to sleep

Anna
Okay. I just want to say that I'm a huge fan of safe sleep. My son is almost 16 weeks old and he's been in a crib since day one, we don't co sleep, and I have nothing in his crib with him, ever. However, the last week has been hell with sleep. He's been such a good sleeper up until now. When I put him to bed, I feed him and rock him to sleep. And he's always down by 9pm. IF he wakes up, it's once to eat. Until the last couple weeks. He wakes up throughout the entire night and every single time I put him down he cries. Last night, I got 2 hours of sleep and had to call out of work. I know this i my fault, because when I rock him, I lay him on my chest on his tummy. We call it the sleeper hold in my house. So I just put him down for a nap and he woke up crying, immediately. And that's when it hit me. Out of curiosity I rolled him onto his stomach and BAM! Out like a light... So my question... How many mommy son here allow their babies to sleep on their tummies?
He can lift his head and roll from his stomach to back but he's not excellent at it yet.
No judgments please.
The blanket is also a no no, I realize. But his crib sheets irritate the eczema on his face.
