Dogs around newborns????

Question

So, I need a little bit of help! Me and my bf recently moved in with his parents and I'm 6 months pregnant. We moved in so we could save money for a house, so it's just temporary, however I don't know how long. His parents have 2 dogs, both chihuahuas, and 1 is pretty aggressive and yappy, both are pretty gross (I think anyways) they have puppy pads but they still poop all over the place! His mom cleans it when she gets home but it's still so gross!! And 1 pees on things! Neither one of them are fixed and his parents refuse to get them fixed for whatever reason they can make up! 
I really don't want my baby living in a house like this, and I don't exactly know how safe that is for the baby anyway? 
My bf thinks I'm over reacting, but last year we lost our first born to SIDS, and as I know you can't be 100% certain of your baby's health at all times, but that's what makes this one just that more precious and special. I want to be extra careful! Am I over reacting?? What should I do or say??? Please help!

I would plan to move out before the baby comes. Small dogs can be sketchy. Especially if the one is already a little shit. I have a min pin who is 12 years old. Never bit a child till a few months ago when my niece came running up to me (my dog was trying to protect me...still not ok though!) so now I'm going to be very cautious. Chihuahuas can be the worst around kids if they're not stable and are use to kids. And they are very protective of their owners. Aside from that, having poop in pee in the house is just so gross. I wouldn't want my newborn with no immune system to be around it. 
I get what youre saying though, it's nice of them to offer their house to you, and you don't want to be rude but at the same time your babies health is the top priority. I think your bf is probably defensive since it's his family but you're not being over protective or crazy. You're just being a good mom.

I don't think your overreacting but then you really can't do anything because it's there house. I would move just because I couldn't live in house like that .

I think if it's bothering you, you should help keep it clean and help get the dogs used to going where they need to... It is gross, but it's not your house, nor is it your place to tell them to get their dogs fixed.

I would move out as soon as baby arrives... Ideally prior. That is not the best situation. Don't burn any bridges over someone's dogs, you need family, his, yours, especially when the little one arrives. Keep your concerns to yourself or between you and your bf. Don't push it with them, especially while you're living there to save money. Good luck!  I would be totally grossed out too but don't underestimate how much you'll need them on good terms.

I would just pitch in and help or move if you can't do that. We have three dogs. They are completely housebroken and we live very clean but animals tend to be very therapeutic for babies and the elderly. Plus, animals are everywhere, do having a child around animals will typically squash any potential fear that babies/children can have about dogs etc.

The shedding fur would be my first objective to address. My parents have chihuahua/min pin mixes (evil yappy things) and it seems like their fur clings to everything. Like cats. The baby will be sensitive to whatever inhibits it's breathing.....like fur. The baby can still have an allergic reaction to it, even close off its airway. Hopefully you will only be there temporarily.....and keep the dogs sectioned off from your end of the house if you can. My parents used the toddler fences to keep them away from my sister's baby.

I think your best plan of action would be to ask her to maintain a cleaner house, or pitch in cleaning up the mess. How old are the dogs ? Why are they not house trained yet? Make sure you let them out all the time when you're home so they can toilet, and wash your hands a lot !!

I think the best thing for you to do would be to move out. It way generous of them to let you guys move in but seeing as it's not your house, it's not really your place to tell them how to do things (even though their dogs should not be acting like that). You could TRY talking to them about training the dogs but that's ultimately their decision. I don't think it's a very good idea to bring a child into a house with an aggressive or untrained dog, no matter the size. Side note: those indoor pads are a terrible idea and the dogs will likely never be housetrained if they use them.
