HELLP syndrome

Kimberly
Woke up Sunday Morning around 5am with sharp upper abdominal pain and mid back pain. Tried to go back to sleep but couldn't so I just laid in bed for about 4 more hours before waking my husband and telling him something was wrong. The pain progressed and worsened to where I was moaning in pain. This didn't feel like what my doctor said contractions would feel like. Woke my husband and he called the doctor(my doctor was not on call unfortunately). The doctor said it sounded like heartburn and to take tums and rest, but if it got worse she called triage to let them know I may possibly come in. Well soon after I began vomiting and the pain was unbearable. Made it to the hospital around 9:00am and they did blood tests and listened to baby. Blood test came back around 10:00am and the doctor was called in.
A bit about my pregnancy: in February I was diagnosed with both gestational diabetes and gestational hypertension. I was seeing the doctors and having NST's once a week for my hypertension but controlled my diabetes through diet and metformin. I was being tested every two weeks for preeclampsia.
Once the doctor was there she told me I had HELLP syndrome and the best option for both me and the baby was to have an emergency c-section because the syndrome could be deadly. I agreed and at 36 weeks welcomed my little girl at 11:59 am May 1st.
