Should criminals be saved?

So I'm watching this Greys  Anatomy episode and there was a school shooting and they had the shooter in surgery. Some people left because they didn't want to save him. My question is, should a person who killed so many be saved when there are dozens of people waiting for operating rooms? I think the person should be saved personally, but what do you guys think?

Look if there's staff readily available to treat each and every victim then he should receive surgery. However, if there is a shortage on staff, I would say victims treated first

My husband is a physician and I'm an attorney... I asked him this question and he said absolutely.

Even though my husband lovessssss Greys, a lot of it is not realistic! When you become a doctor you take an oath, and it should always be your goal to uphold that oath, if one is to start putting their personal beliefs or feelings into the decision of how to treat a patient (no matter who they are, what they did, how much money they have) this world would be even more fucked.

& of course I think that's what the judicial process is for. Doctors aren't a judge or jury, that person will have their day in court. Although, people don't trust our judicial process and people have their reasons it doesn't give doctors a right to say who lives and who dies because the reason they landed in the ED isn't pleasing...

As a doctor its your duty to save people who are dying regardless of what they have done.

Doctors and nurses are taught to not judge there patients by what they have done but to treat treat them like any body else they would treat for whether the person is a murderer or pedio or even the president the treatment of them all has to be the same.

As someone who's family member was in the first classroom at Virgina Tech, I want to say no. But the human rights activist and morally conscious part of me says that he should absolutely be saved. Doctors should not have the authority to decide that.

Physicians are to uphold the principles of medical ethics. 
Regardless of what crime has been committed, medical staff are not the judge, jury, and executioner. That kind of power and responsibility should not be given to those in healthcare.
Due process must be maintained.

You have to. It is your duty to save them regardless of their background. Just like defense lawyers. It is their job, no matter how much they dislike it. It would be shitty trying to revive a child rapist but you must look past that if you're going to be doing a job like that. It sucks, but it would be even suckier of medical professionals were able to pick and choose who they want to save

As a RT I'm supposed to help people regardless of what kind or person they are, but believe me when I say I haven't been upset when some of them don't make it.
