Bleeding for too long !

I have been bleeding for a month & counting ; I got my period last month on the 15 and it still on. I notice it was on too long when i went threw a box of tampons . Went to the gyn said it was normal have to go back Tuesday get a ultrasound . Has this happen to anyone should I be scared?
