Dogs and pregnancy??

Question

I live with one of my relatives and my boyfriend and I have two dogs. One full pit and one half chihuahua half pit. Yesterday she figured out that I was pregnant. She told us that the dogs need to be chained up outside or gone down the road, she said because animals carry too many diseases. 
Personally I think she's going to cause me stress that's not needed, and I'm not even around them all the time. I go to school, come home, and they come in when it's time to go to bed.
I have my first prenatal exam Friday and I am asking my provider if there's any reason not to have a dog during a pregnancy. 😠😠
But I would just like to know what everyone thinks here.

I have 3 big dogs (45 pounds, 80 pounds, and 125 pounds) and am 28+2 weeks pregnant with a very healthy, normal pregnancy. My dogs sleep in my bed, literally under the covers with me half the time because my husband works midnights and it has not been a problem whatsoever. Your family member is full of shit. Sorry, but I'm not sorry. Dogs should be a part of the family in my opinion, and there is no reason to cast them out when pregnant or having children unless they are a danger to the baby (and I mean in the sense of biting or actually attacking the baby) We wouldn't have been cosleeping anyways because my hubby is a HEAVY sleeper. But my dogs will not be kicked out of our bed when our daughter gets here. She will sleep in a bassinet, the dogs will sleep where they always have. I see no reason to uproot their lives.

I personally don't have any dogs but I've seen cute pictures and videos of family dogs having a bond with babies, they are protectors. I don't see anything wrong with having a dog, just make sure they are all updated wth shots and check for worms and fleas. And you should be just fine.

Don't get rid of your dogs. We have had dogs while pregnant and around a new baby. Just dont let the dog lick the baby when he/she gets here. I'm pregnant now and my dog won't leave me along and I love it. She is part of the family.

Thank you all for all the comments and I am really not going to let her exile our dogs outside or put them in cages. They will just come in the room with us and I will play with them whenever and however I please. If I want to cuddle my Chie-Chief then I'll cuddle my Chief. If I wanna kiss on Diesel and tell him what a good boy he is then I shall do so.

Umm I have 4 dogs, 4 large dogs. They don't carry any more diseases than we do. And it's actually beneficial for babies to be around animals to help build up their immune system! Whoever told u that is STUPID. I also have 7 cats. If you chain them up-I can see them becoming resentful towards the baby. Most pets are perfectly fine with babies. One of my huskies would never leave my infants side-he would get upset if he couldn't be next to him. You just need to be a GOOD pet owner. Introduce the dogs properly, supervise them with the baby at all times. My dogs are the most gentle things in the world but I never leave them unsupervised with my kids. They are still dogs.

I have two! Can't be afraid of every little thing in pregnancy. My dogs and family are healthy and there's no reason why they should be afraid of the dogs! They help reduce stress too!

There's no need to get rid of your dogs our exile them while you're pregnant, cats carry diseases more than dogs (litter boxes) just keep them up to date with shots, heart worm and flea and tick medication and you'll be fine. I've been around my neighbors GSDs 100 lbs each my yellow lab 75 lbs my grandparents dogs a Great Dane 200 lbs, great hound 90lbs (I think) and her Black and Tan coon hound (85lbs).. Most dogs can sense you're pregnant and maybe become protective and more gentle with you, don't let anyone tell you to do anything with your animals if you're not willing to do it yourself!
