Boyfriend went to bed knowing I was upset

My boyfriend left me going to bed knowing I was crying my eyes out because he has to wake up at 5am for work. I really just need him right now I have had a lot of family problems going on and it makes me more upset knowing the one person I want comforting me isn't. Should I be upset at him or is it understandable that he has to wake up early?
