bobbing head?

my 12 day old will do this annoying bobble-head thing on my breast. like a crack addict! she wont stay latched on, its very frustrating. anyone else experienced this?

too little milk? too much milk? gas?

It's called a rooting reflex. The baby is instinctively trying to find your nipple. It's a good way to know the baby is hungry before they flip out and start crying.

My son does that all the time. I attribute it to a mini hysteria with not being able to latch fast enough for him wanting to eat. I usually put my hand behind his head to guide him to the right latch. He's getting older and it's getting better.

I've read that it's actually normal, it's the way that the baby finds the breast especially if they were doing the breast crawl. You could try the laid-back nursing position

My son would do this a lot when I first started. You just have to guide their head and then kind of hold them there. They're still getting use to latching and eating too. The lactation consultant told me their mouths get tired easily in the beginning. She might still try to come off once you get her on but try your best to keep her there and she should latch back on right away. My sons 7 weeks now and he hasn't done that for a while. So she will get use to it it just takes some time

Like he's pulling your nipple with his mouth? Or like he's pecking and head butting your breast trying to latch?

If it's the first one he's trying to induce a let down of milk, basically being impatient. It's totally normal.

If it's the 2nd he's having a hard time with head control and is rooting for your nipple looking to eat, try and guide him to your nipple and let him latch.
