Can I get birth control myself?

I'm sixteen almost seventeen and I want to go on birth control just for extra precautions and to regulate my period. Do I need a parent or a parents consent to go on birth control, or can I schedule an appointment myself?

Please also know if you get the oral contraceptive "the pill" that if you take antibiotics that you will need to use a backup method (condom).  I did not know this when I was young and was lucky I never had unprotected sex until married.

Go to a planned parenthood. They will take care of your reproductive needs and everything is confidential. I didn't need my parents to go with me and I was 17. They are very nice and not judgmental at all. Make sure to ask them everything YOU WANT TO KNOW and don't be shy about it. They are there for YOU. if the plan you go with doesn't work for you, then go back and tell them why. They will always be understanding and stay to work with your lifestyle.
