What will it be like in the hospital after the baby is delivered?

FTM and I'm curious! How long did you stay in the hospital, what happened right after the baby was born, when do they start to allow visitors, does a nurse stay in the room, do you switch rooms, etc. The more details the better.

I had a c section at 3 am. Baby and I went back to our original labor & delivery room to recover for a few hours. By 6 am I was moved to the post partum floor. they told me not to have visitors until we got to PP but my mom arrived before the room was ready and they had no issues at all letting her in to visit (I think they originally said to wait so she didn't get there as we were moving and get confused about my actual whereabouts). Our hospital allowed visitors 24/7 though. We had him on a Wednesday morning and left Saturday

U should take a tour of your hospital each place is different. What I learned from mine is baby stays with us the entire time we give birth in a room recover there for one hr meet with the lactation specialist, then after the hour move to our postpartum room where we stay a night or two depending on when u give birth. Visitors are allowed in the postpartum room but there are quite hours they are not allowed around mid day! They have menus to order food from and a shower and bathroom in both rooms!

Private hospital In Australia here, delivered in a delivery suit that had a bed, couch & ensuite. When he was born, they put him straight onto my chest until they were done (cutting cord etc), then took him to wipe and weigh and measure, then put him on my nipple to bond. My parents live close by and they came to visit us in the delivery room. We were then moved to a private hospital room, & we were allowed 5 days (4 nights). Born early tues morning, left Saturday morning. Visitors are allowed whenever you're ready, usually during visiting hours though.

I had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery and was in the hospital for a little over 2 days. I labored delivered and stayed in the same room it was great. They delivered my baby wiped her down and laid her on my chest. When I was ready they took her and weighed her and got her vitals. Over night they did tests on her. They checked on me once a shift. My nurse stayed right by my side until 1hr after my delivery. The visiting hrs for family friends were 10-8 but hubby was able to come and go 24/7. I had an amazing experience at my hospital!

At my hospital in the uk as soon as you have had baby they want to move you to another room a 4 bed ward! I had time for a quick shower (they had to check if i could first!) Then we went over to a room with 3 other women and babies where i stayed for 2 nights due to blood sugar monitoring me and my baby! I hated it there, food was terrible and could not sleep due to other visitors or one baby stopped crying, another started i was glad to get home as was in there 2 days prior too (failed induction)

At my hospital the same room you deliver is your recovery, they don't move you. And they baby stays with you the entire time unless you're too tired you can ask nurse to take baby to nursery! 1 person adult was allowed to stay over night, I had 5 visors in room after baby was born, only kids that are sister or brother to baby are allowed to visit. The only thing I didn't like was that they give you all the supplies you'll need for baby, diapers, pacifiers, toilets to wet to use for wipes, except bottles! They time every 3 hrs for baby to eat and they'd bring a bottle for you to feed, my baby was sucking her hands because after 2hrs she's be hungry again and we'd have to wait the full 3hrs! My hospital also had free newborn photos that you can get done. All the food is horribly but the last day you and 1 guess get to have steaks

When I started having strong contractions with my daughter they would last 45 seconds and every 5 minutes so I figured it would be a good time to go to the hospital. When I had went they were very quick to send me back home. They had told me I was only 2 cm, and had to be 3 in order to stay. So I went home and they lasted the rest of the day and all night (I did not sleep). I got up at 7AM after trying to get some sleep and still the contractions went on I finally went back to the hospital at 2pm and I was only 3 cm lol they ended up braking my water for me. I only wanted my husband and mom in the room but everyone kinda watched half the show until I yelled at everyone to get out lol then the urge to push came 5 minutes later out came my daughter. I suggest no pain meds or epidural (that's how I did it) you feel so much better afterwards. They cleaned her and then I breast fed for 15 minutes, then they took her away. A lil later my room was ready and they brought her back in. I stayed for 3 days because I had her at 11:29pm. And if someone is going to be staying with you in the hospital they should bring a pillow and blankets the chair can be uncomfortable. You get food, shower, they give you diapers, wipes, anything you may need.

I had a c section for my deliveries so I started out in an operating room then was transported to a recovering area. When my postpartum room was ready I was then wheeled in there. That's when family could come. Our baby unit did not have specific visitors hours. You had your own shower and restroom. Full room service too. My nurses changed every 12 hours. They also changed from delivery to recovery. I was there 4 nights with each kid. I could send them to the nursery at night so I could sleep as well.
