9 weeks and possible gender reveal? Your thoughts?

I went to get a ultrasound and the lady said she possibly saw the gender. She thought she saw a penis... I was shocked! I thought it was too early for that. She said she wasn't sure but she showed me something that looked like it would be a penis.

Do you think that's possible at 9 weeks?

I personally think that's waaaaaaay too early. Genitalia hasn't even formed yet at that stage. I'd definitely wait.

The tech should not have said anything. Female parts look almost the same at that stage.

Way too soon to know. At my 13 week scan the ultra tech guessed boy but said she was only 59% sure because at that stage their genitals can look similar. But she was right! We had our anatomy scan at 21 weeks and sure enough he was a boy.

At our 8 weeks and 3 day appointment our daughter looked like a ball. There is no way that she could tell gender so soon! Plus girls have swollen genitals for a long time in utero. Our daughter had a bump at  16 weeks because it was still swollen. But you could still see the 3 lines. I would definitely wait to be sure of what you're having before announcing!

No way. At 9 weeks? I definitely would not take that as anything more than being 50% accurate-which is basically just a guessing game at this point. I was told at 12 weeks and he said he was 99% sure on the gender then and it was confirmed by blood test. But 9 weeks I've never heard of. I think it's silly that she even told you that.
