Using a Doppler?

Found the heartbeat easily this morning but it sounded really slow? Yet on scans it's really fast! Is it just because home equipment isn't as good?

A slow heartbeat is probably yours - you can check your pulse at the same time to see if it matches. Depending on how far along you are it may be really difficult to find the baby's heartbeat using a doppler - I had two midwives try last week at 14 weeks and neither could find it (they did pick mine up a few times). I had a scan after and they found the baby and saw the heartbeat right away so not finding on the doppler doesn't mean something is wrong.

You might have found a vein and heard your own heart beat. If I put the doppler near my hip bones, I hear my own heart beat. I found the baby really low. Just above the pubic bone in the middle and the heart beat was twice as fast as mine. Try again x
