Is this safe?

Question

I read something earlier about putting puppy pads under the baby in case of the diaper leaking or blow outs. 
Would that be safe in a car seat? We are going on vacation when our daughter will be 5-7 weeks old and it is a 10 hour car trip. I know it won't be the most fun I'll have had traveling in a car... lol but I thought it would make any blowouts easier to clean up. But I'm unsure if it could cause her to slide around too much in the seat. Thanks! FTM if you couldn't tell ;) hahaha

There should be Nothing put between baby and car seat. Even the aftermarket cute covers are super dangerous. Talk with a certified car seat tech. My sister is one. If you need help or have any questions id be happy to help.

Never put anything in the carseats(under the baby, on the straps, or head supports) that doesn't come with the carseat. If it doesn't come with it, it doesn't belong in it.  If you were to get in an accident your insurance doesn't have to cover the cost of your babies injuries.

A baby that small needs to be taken out of the seat regularly because there neck isn't strong enough to move there heads if there airway becomes obstructed so when taking baby out change nappy

I would just make sure you stop and change her every so often because you wouldn't want her to get rashes or anything

Call your county health department and ask to speak with their car seat safety expert. If the answer is no (which I suspect no one will be bold enough to confirm it is safe from a legal standpoint) then call the carseat manufacturer as well. My baby blew out in her carseat multiple times when we traveled so I kept a sealed container of detergent /water in my trunk and a scrub brush and a wet bag and I treated all of her clothes with each change at pretty much every stop. I'll be traveling a normally 2 day drive with my 1-2 week old baby and we have planned to make this a 3 day drive. And as far as carseat goes, the fabric on mine is very wipable, and I treat spots with a baby wipe dipped in a little bit of the detergent water and scrub until it's as faded as I can get it, and then wash the cover after the trip and it doesn't stain. But you can also (car temp and weather permitting) dress the baby in fleece pjs and that does not leak out very much at all.

Try using a reviving blanket under the babe if you are worried about leaks.  You'll be stopping every two hours or so to feed anyways.  So the baby will be able to be changed often.

There shouldn't be anything in between the baby and the car seat. It's not safe. Id take to a car seat tech if you're still thinking about it. There is a good page on Facebook called CarSeat safety you can join. They're really helpful with questions like this. Their page looks like this.

There's a seat you can buy for about $10 that is waterproof just for times like this. It seems safe but I'm no expert. It just sits right in the car seat and doesn't affect the buckle or anything. I would look into that!

Im a FTM as well so idk if its true but ive been told blowouts happen mpst of time due to diapers being to lose or tight?
