Period problems

Me and my SO were having sex around the time my period was supposed to come. During the sex I got the worst cramps I have ever felt so we stopped and he never finished and we use protection each one anyways. I thought the pain was just caused from me about to start my period so I didn't think much about it and took some midol and went to bed. The next morning I woke up and my belly was extremely sore and I still had not signs of my period. My period is 2 days late and I am having no more period symptoms. Has anyone else had this problem and might can help me with what's wrong?
