First appointment - what should I expect?

I have my first appointment with my OB next week and will be nearly 8 weeks. What should I expect? Did your husband/SO go with you? I just have no clue what happens.

I had my first appointment this past Monday. I am 8 weeks this weeks. Mostly just getting an ultrasound making sure the baby is fine and that they can see a heartbeat, probably take some cultures to check for infections, checking your cervix, take some blood. He/She will probably ask a lot of questions about your pregnancy thus far any problems and such. They will also ask about family history like any illnesses that run on either side (If you don't know your partners family history off hand it's good that they be there in case) Don't be afraid to ask questions and answer honestly. My SO went with me for my first appt. This is his first child so he was just as excited as me to see the little baby we created.
