Membrane sweep?

Did it work for you? If so how long did it take and how engaged were you? How many did you have and did you do anything to help it along?
I'm booked in to have mine at 40+2 and then a second one at 40+6 due to a consultant recommendation. Midwife said they don't really work only 24% so looking for some personal experiences.

I was 40 weeks when I had mine and I went into labour straight away! started off slowly though. midwife said I probably wouldn't have needed it. 2nd time I had a sweep at 40 weeks.... nothing. had another at 40+4 and went into labour next day. good luck x

The first two I had didnt work but the last one I had I went into labour about 4 hours later, just depends how effeced you are and shit

I had to have 2 because the first didn't work. I went into labour the morning after the second (about 12 hours later) but I was due to be induced the day after anyway. still ended up on pitocin because I just wasn't progressing so kind of wish little lady had just waited another day - could have had 1 more night before a life of sleepless nights started! 
The sweep is uncomfortable, not unbearable but they're not gentle! I took some paracetamol before my second sweep because I felt like smacking the midwife after the first 😂

My mums friend works on a delivery suite and she told me to request to have the sweep done by the hospital rather than your midwife. The midwife only does a very basic one to avoid hurrying things along too much immediately, whereas the hospital do a much more thorough one as they're prepared for waters breaking etc... Definitely request hospital xx

i had two attempts and she couldn’t do it either time as my cervix was still really posterior and firm at 40 and 41 weeks i was so gutted, induction booked for friday 😭

i’m having mine on friday! il be 40+5 so i’m hoping il have the baby by the weekend i’m so done with being pregnant! it’s my first what do you think my chances are?? lol 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I had mine while I was 3cms in labour as I was having contractions 😐 she checked and gave me a sweep the same time. It's not nice but it sure got things moving!
