Dean Andrew Norberg's birth

Brittany • May 16th with first boy
My sweet boy arrived Sunday May 22nd at 1:10 am. 8lbs 3oz 22'' long. Started having period like cramps after being checked on Friday around noon. Increasingly got worse through the day/evening and woke up with horrible back labor at 2am Saturday am. Waited for my contractions to get 5-6 minutes apart at 10am on Saturday then went to hospital. Was 5cm dialated when I arrived but my contractions were all in my back and weren't picking up on the monitor as often as I was having them so they had me walk the hospital for an 1 1/2 to increase them. Admitted me at 2pm, started the epidural but first one didn't take. Doctor broke my water, got my epidural redone and then it was a waiting game! I was having consistent contractions, just weren't quite strong enough so they gave me a small dose of pitocin. Reached 10cm around midnight and shortly started pushing. Epidural was the best thing ever FYI! But I got redosed shortly before I started pushing so my legs were pretty numb which made it hard to know what to do. Once I finally got the hang of it, it wasn't too bad! I pushed for an hour and 10 minutes and had a small tear but am recovering very well. No swelling, minimal discomfort. My boy was perfectly healthy although he passed meconium before he was born. He has latched well and has been feeding pretty well, although he has been so sleepy I have had to pump a few times to make sure my supply comes in. I am very grateful that my labor went so smoothly, and wanted to share my story with you guys so it's not all negative things! I know reading positive stories helped me!
