Jaundice?

Question

My baby has high bilirubin levels and slightly yellowed eyes. Has anyone else experienced this? He is otherwise healthy and I am trying to feed him as often as he will take it (breastfed). Is there anything else I can do?

My doctor recommended sunlight, so we try to make sure he gets some everyday.

My son and daughter both had the same thing. I woke my son to nurse more (daughter was on top of being up for feeding) and I took both of them for walks outside for about 15 minutes and made sure the tops of their heads were exposed to sunlight.Daughter  now looks less banana and more normal :D

My 2 week old had this and his pediatrician recommended 10-15 minutes of indirect sunlight at a time in just his diaper. We sat with him in a recliner by the window and opened the blinds and that helped tremendously. By doing this we avoided having to do phototherapy.

My daughter had this. Her pediatrician suggested I supplement with formula cause my milk wasn't in yet. Just until my milk was in and was enough to feel her 2 oz every 3 hours minimum her jaundice started to clear up within days.

I did with my second he had to be put under the lamp. But I straight breastfeed it turn out ok.
