Help!

How long do the sore cracked nipples last? I am only on day 6 of breast feeding. Letting my nipples air out, try and make sure my baby boy gets a deep enough latch, using mother love nipple cream. I don't know what else to do. When he latches on I practically go through the ceiling it is so painful. I even tried pumping a small amount to see if pumping would be easier on them than nursing and that failed me.

Any advice would be helpful, I am coming to the point where I do not enjoy our cuddle sessions for feeding and cry because of the pain.
