What do you wish you knew before starting?

Hey ladies, My hubby and I have been TTC for 2 years now. I have mild endometriosis and had a laproscopy last year. We've had all the tests and supposedly nothing to stop us getting pregnant. I changed jobs 3 months ago as I was working stupid hours so they thought stress might be why we weren't getting pregnant. Long story short, loving the new job and we are set to start trying again in a few months. We know we will have to do IVF and so we are saving up pretty hard at the moment. Given we have this long lead time to trying again, I am researching and trying to know what I am getting myself in for 😀 So given you are all going through this at the moment, what do you wish you knew before you started? TIA

I have just finished my first IVF cycle and although it has been the biggest rollercoaster ride of my life, I feel great coming out the other end. I had my embryo transfer 2 days so of course I'm not quite out of the woods yet but I'm optimistic that it's going to work. You have to be very prepared for the ups and downs. In my case they put me on the long protocol and a relatively low stimulation dose which wasn't quite enough to wake my ovaries up properly. My clinic was great at altering my meds to get the appropriate response but ultimately I didn't get as many eggs as I should have and had to go for lots more scans and blood tests. You may be lucky and have a straightforward textbook IVF cycle but be prepared that this doesn't always happen. I was also not prepared for just how awful I would feel on the medication. The Buserelin that I was taking for the suppression gave me terrible migraines and so so tired! I looked dreadful.   That was probably the worst part for me. You really do forget about it quickly though and move onto hoping and believing that it has worked. I hope this helps. IVF is tough but as women we are so strong and you really discover how strong you are! Xx
