Hereditary cancers testing?

Just wondering if anyone else decided to get genetic testing done for hereditary cancers? I did when my new ob brought it up at my checkup since i had already had thyroid cancer and my mom carries the Brca gene. Luckily it came back negative on everything we checked and I'm glad I got it done but i want to hear other people's thoughts on it?

I did testing when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, but all known genes were negative. Very glad we did it, but just goes to show that there's so much we don't know about cancer, and not having the known genes doesn't mean it won't happen.

They apparently have a place in San Fran that does it. UCSF for a pretty decent price if you can prove cancer in your family history. I really want to do this because every woman on my moms side has died of some sort of cancer or another. And I have three sisters with the same mom. Scary stuff

I'm BRCA-2 positive. Got it from my dad. Really glad I was tested
