Anyone been induced with cervidil?

Question

How does it work? Did it induce labour without needing pitocin? Are the contractions natural or are they as bad as being induced with pitocin?? My doctor wants to use it for induction on Monday and I have no idea how it works! Thanks for any input...

Cervidil is mainly used for ripening your cervix and getting it ready for pitocin. However, it can send you into labor. It sent me into full blown labor. I never needed pitocin because of the cervidil. It was placed at 730pm. I was checked 2 hours later and was at 2cm. My water broke at 12am and I dilated to 4. Baby boy was born at 114am.

Google it. That's what I had to do when I was in L&D and their website had lots of good info. It is purely used to rippen the cervix.  I still had to use a foley bulb (which hurt the worst out of everything!), then used pitocin. PS nothing happens during the cervidil time so it would be a good time to be alone without all the loved ones In the room. That was my experience to be alone with baby and my thoughts but to each their own. Good Luck!
