How safe is the pill really?

I take it at the same time every day, I've been on it for 3 years now but have always wondered how much it actually prevents pregnancy. I've never had my man ejaculate inside me and I want to try it at east once.

I never used comdoms when I used the pill, or with my current Mirena.
Never been pregnant or had a pregnancy scare.

I was on the pill for about 2-3 months before I got off of it and I had unprotected sex quite often and he came in me each time and I never got pregnant .. Obviously there is still a possibility that I could've or anybody else could but it worked pretty good

Okay so I've been on the pill now for 4 years and I still use a condom, I just can't trust it on its own ass all protection is never 100% assured that you can't get pregnant. I have used the pill a number of times without a condom and I am not pregnant but it lead to a few pregnancy scares. I still don't trust it though.
