How many cloth diapers should we get?

We are wanting to do disposables at first until baby is big enough for cloth ones (someone suggested this). But I have no idea how many cloth diapers we should get to prepare! I have like 7 or something so far along with 2 washable inserts each. Is this enough? What do you guys think??

Baby will go through more than seven in just one day! Newborns typically use 10+. If you want to do wash every 2-3 days, I suggest 30!

I'd go AT LEAST 12 and wash daily (with disposable back up if it's a bad day and you run out before the wash is done. I'd feel better with 24.

I prefer flip covers with flat/prefold inserts. You can boil the inserts to really clean them if they start to stink.

I'm getting cloth diapers and depending on what ones you get some are adjustable and for newborns and up. I would suggest getting much more than 7, a baby could easily go through all 7 in a day. I'm going to get around 30, thats the magic number that I've heard from a lot of other parents who cloth diaper(:

Most cloth diaper websites will say 20-24 as a minimum for every other day washing when baby is less than 6 months old. You'll definitely need more than 7 unless you're only planning on cloth diapering part time and washing every day.

We bought a small washer machine to use exclusively for our cloth too.
